When spray painting and varnishing how do you get the paint in the window holes without it running and making a mess on the side?  I tried spraying varnish in and now have a big sanding job.

Very carefully. [biggrin]

I usually try to spray at an angle from all sides with the body on its side. This usually works pretty well on 3/4 inch thick toys like the play pals not so much for thicker bodies. It's easier using an air brush because you can control how much paint you are spraying. Its tempting to get close but that really doesn't work well. If the instructions on the can say spray at 12 inches then you need to spray at 12 inches. Light coats work better than thick wet coats.

I've almost stopped caring about it. I spray in the manner described above and if it goes all the way through great. If it doesn't I'm not goinging worry about it.

Since I always hand paint, I use a smaller brush to get inside the holes. Spray it and then hand paint/varnish the inside holes is an option.

I've always had the problem of getting into little nicks and crannies when I spray paint. When I try to hard the paint gets to heavy and runs. Only thing is on touch up you have to spray a small amount in a small container and use the brush for touch up. Depends on how nice you want it to look.

After trying several different methods I decided that painting the inside is better done with a brush. paint the inside first and get it how you want it. When the paint is dry clean up the outside sanding our wat ever works for you. Sanding can give you a nice clean edge on you windows. Once that is done then spray the outside.

Sounds like painting holes with a brush is the way to go. I'll try that.  Thanks...
