I wanted to share with you the 12 Toys of Christmas Tree we just finished for a recent craft show.  I needed something that was colorful and looked like Christmas for the centerpiece of our table.

DSC05871_mini.JPG

This was a fun easy project.  The tree was stack cut on my Scroll Saw to get all the tree parts to match.  We painted the tree with Green, Red, and White Krylon spray paint.
Some of the tree toys were spray painted and some were painted with craft acrylic paints.

The Martin Motors puzzle truck seen by the Christmas Tree was the best seller at this show, which excites me because it is so easy to build and draws a lot of attention.

Side Note:  One of the customers who bought the puzzle truck came back to the show with the truck and cars in a bag and said; "Could you show us how to put this back together".  When they took it apart at home they did not pay attention to how two of the cars are upside down.  Interesting because this is the 2nd time this has happened.

If you need a centerpiece Christmas toy the 12 toys of Christmas Tree is a good one.

That tree looks very nice.  Your painting is always amazing to me.  The lines are so crisp.  The martin motors puzzle truck does always sell out.  They are very popular.  I too, have had people contact me after on how to put it back together.  Funny.  Thanks for sharing hope your show went well.

Hi Ken,

I love what you've done with the 12 Toys of Christmas Tree! Did you double the size of the tree and double the cars and trucks sitting in the tree? It really looks great!

Thanks for the nice words about the 12 Days of Christmas tree Cynthia and Cindy

Cynthia the tree is just as the pattern called for 20" wide at the base and 14" tall. I did make a template for it out of peel and stick tiles, then stack cut the each side of the tree together to get it exact, then painted with Krylon paints.

Cindy, I never thought the Martin Motors Puzzle truck would be hard for clients to figure out.  I am glad to know it is not just my clients who can't put the cars back into the trailer.  LOL
I live in a Santa Maria Calif, and the weather here is so mild, that is the only reason my paint jobs come out as well as they do.  I am lucky and spoiled in that respect.

Ken - Another great photo of your craft show table, very colourful and must have attracted a lot of people. The Christmas tree looks great also, I have totally forgot about this plan set. What a interesting idea not only for toys but for people who do not need a large size Christmas tree and only need a small table top one to celebrate Christmas. Not only is it a great project but it comes apart for flat storage.

I just wanted to be clear the 12 Toys of Christmas Tree is a Toymakingplans.com pattern.
Like I said, this was a fun easy project for Christmas.

Ken, maybe you need to include a small print of the assembled car carrier with each sale. It would make it self explanatory and could include your name and web address for a little advertising. The toys look great! Bruce

Thanks for the kind words about the 12 toys of Christmas tree.
This was the biggest thing I had ever done on a scroll saw, but it came out OK.
It did take a lot of masking before painting.
