Hi, I corrected myself. I meant 1/4" material, not 1/8. I am somewhat new at this and I am making parts for the Happy Teacher puzzles. I would like to know if there is a preferred 1/4" material (plywood, hardboard or other) that I can use for the base and lid. The base has rounded corners. I am concerned that plywood would not be smooth at the rounded corners and may not be very flat. Hardboard on the other hand, seems to have a very slippery surface and I wonder if the sides of the box to hold the puzzle will stick properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Francois

If I were you I would check out some good MDF I buy mine at home Depot 1/4 in 2ft.x4ft' panel is about $9.00. It cuts and sands very easy and finishes great.

My Home Depot also has 1/4 inch poplar that should work very well for this. If I were going to use plywood I would us Baltic birch. I can get it locally but it is available from several online sources including amazon.
