While building the Hot Rod VW - I ordered wheels as I was going to need a lot of them. Then I came across a situation - Axle hole 5/16" - Wheel hole 1/4". Scratching head , first thought drill out the wheel, SELF thinks good chance of ending up like a clown car. Scratching head again. Wife walks in drops some plastic straws in front of me saying think this might help , Me being all manly and stuff says No way, Wife leaves so I try it wow perfect fit.  Walk out and told wife hey I came up with a great idea, Wife rolls eyes sayin that's good honey. I will use this idea from now on, That little VW will roll clear across the room on carpet.

Great idea !  Did you have to put a little glue to keep straw from sliding back-n-forth>  I have been using 9/32 for all axle holes.  In my case with toy oil I use it tends to swell the wood a little so the 9/32 hole works for ke.  I will give it a try, perhaps it will roll further,

No Jack , The straw fits OK , With the wheels on if it slides it cant go far as the wheel will stop it anyway. And it does roll well.

GREAT idea by Mrs. GGPA! My wife does similar from time to time, and I usually poo poo the idea, then - in desperation - try the idea much later, only to find the idea often works perfectly first time! Annoying (but lovely) creatures wives, aren't they!
