I bought a BluTrak for my grandson to race his Hot Wheels cars on. He is having a ball with this and learning a lot as well. The track is two lanes wide and one piece. One of the reasons I got this instead of Hot Wheels track is that the lanes are wider. Standard 3/4-inch Play Pals fit the track. We did a little experimentation where we raced Play Pal cars against each other and the Hot Wheels cars. The lighter Play Pals made from pine did not do well. Most of them would not run out the full length of the 25-foot track. However, in the mix, there were some Play Pals with MDF bodies. Not only did the MDF Play Pals run the full 25 feet, but they held there own against a lot of the genuine Hot Wheels cars making the jumps and bumps and occasionally winning the heat. They beat the knock off cars every time. Why? The weight for one thing. The MDF Play Pals feel like they weigh twice as much as the pine Play Pals and more than the knock-offs. Also, I think the wheels spin easier in the MDF cars.

This got a bit crazy after the tow truck from Quick N Easy 5 Truck Fleet went down the track. It takes both lanes but wots fine. All of the vehicles we have worked. Out of the big toys which one was the fastest. A sedan from the Hot Rod Freaky Fords set. Of course, its made from MDF.

Now I have a test track.  [cool]

Sounds a great project. Could you post a picture as I have three grandsons who are all into Hot Wheels but are now wanting to take over the workbench and make their own racers.

Isn't great fun test driving toys especially cars and trucks and you have an ideal test track and test driver in your grandson. well done Bob.
