I have bought a roundover 615 bit from Dremel to give small items nice and round edges but I´m pretty disappointed. I get tear out on soft wood, burns on hardwood and the bit leaves a mark almost all the way around the top part. Any ideas?

I don't use round over bit in my dremel  but i do use the sanders and find  that if I slow down my  speed with less pressure make more passes I have less burning with them

Are you bits High Speed Steel or carbide?

Cutting against the grain causes tearout.

Dull bits and/or cutting to slow can cause burning.

All the Dremel bits I have seen do not have ball bearing guides. The fixed guides will burn the wood.

Not sure what kind it is. It is this one and it has no bearing. I have returned it back to the shop, also complaining about the guiding top not being in line with the cutting part. I was told there is very little chance of getting money back, but they gave it a try anyway.

You might want to try one of these. These router bits be better than the high speed steel Dremel bits. The problem with high speed steel is that it quickly becomes dull and needs resharpening. Dull bits will cause burning.

When I got my first router all they had was highspeed steel bits. It was difficult to keep them from butning the wood or worse burning the bit. Running an HSS bit through a glue line would ruin it. Today with the carbide bits we have I would not hesitate to route plywood.

I use a small trim router mounted in a vise and 1/4 inch shank bearing guided router bits. Use a sharp, clean bit and pay careful attention to the grain direction. I try to modify most of my toys, so there is no radius smaller than 1/2 inch. A 1/2 inch radius works with this bearing guided bit and my spindle sander.

I got the bad bit warranty approved and will be getting my money back. BadBob, I know about those routing bits, but they are unavailable in my country and shipping from states is too expensive for what it is. But thanks.
