Hi all,

I had barely finished making the first batch of the Mercedes Lorry Truck when my good wife took one to her work to show her friends. It sold on the spot!  Another lady said to her "pity it wasn't a garbage truck, my 4yr old is obsessed".   Challenge accepted!!  Results as below.

Stretched the chassis by 1.5 inch to get proportions better, ditched the fuel tanks to allow for bin-lifting arm and tipper lever, moved the exhausts to the chassis rails.
A small magnet is epoxied into both the lifter arm head and the back of each of the small bins to hold the bin in place whilst "emptying".  Bins are solid and coloured to match General waste, Recyclables and Garden waste  bins as per the customer's own bins.
Whilst I felt that working bin lids would be too fragile for such a young child, the opening in the truck body top allows for  play rubbish to be "tipped in"  and the tail-gate opens to allow it all to be tipped out as per real.
Orange flashing lights front and rear top as per our real trucks.

Exceeded customer expectations, another now on order, and ideas for a Fire Truck, Van and Tipper versions coming to fruition on the drawing board.

Alan

What a fantastic modification of the plan! My first build of the original plan is still in the queue, been busy with a play kitchen and shop for my little girl.

Agree 100% with Cynthia's quote (above) but DISAGREEE 100% with Frankg's (above). [mad][mad] (Here the bin men come around at about 6.00 am and I'm retired, so NO sound effects please)!

Brilliant plan adaptation.
