I have just made a small violin using 3/8 walnut. Am considering using boiled linseed oil for finish and, after a few days to let that dry, spraying clear lacquer on top for protection. Would this be OK? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hambone,

as far as I know, a violin needs much more layers (10?) of lacquer but that is what I know about a ┬┤normal size┬┤ one

Thanks for your comment. The Deft container says to use multiple coats, at least three.  The violin is 10" long. The linseed oil has been applied and in a few days I'll add the spray semigloss lacquer.  Should be OK.
