Am starting Xmas small ornaments, scenes, etc using 1/4" birch plywood and my scrollsaw. Would like to know what others use for finish.  I have used spray shellac first and then, usually, Deft clear lacquer spray. Should I consider other options for finish?  Not interested in painting these....they are too detailed. Thanks.

Assuming these are small enough to dip.

Any oil finish that you can dip, drain and wiped should work. You can use compressed air to get any excess out of corners or holes.

Thinned shellac, works pretty much the sane as oil but you have to do it fast. Shellac drys quick.
