My Friend’s grandson turned three the other day and he was an avid watcher of Fireman Sam on TV. She asked me if I could build him Fireman Sam’s fire engine and this was the result. I just copied a picture from google images, took measurements and made it from 12 mm plywood and 18 mm pine.

The decals I drew up on inkscape and printed with my colour printer and just stuck them on. She said he wouldn’t let go of it all day. He took it to bed with him and said good night to it. So  I don’t think it turned out too bad and made one little boy very happy.

Excellent firetruck.
Love the paintwork and decals, looks like a shop bought truck.

Cheers

Hi Kenbod, Sorry for the delay in replying. I have been ill in bed and toymaking and computers were the last thing on my mind.

To answer your question, The truck was 453mm long, 232 mm high from the ground to the top of the cab and 174mm wide.

The hoist measured as follows: bottom arm 429 mm, top arm 260, and the platform was 110 mm long. I hope this helps.

The airhorns on the cab roof were golf tees.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and comments.
