The photo below is of Jagath with his beautiful wife and daughters.

I want to share with you the letter and photos I  received from Jagath recently. Jagath lives in Sri Lanka with his family. He is building up his toy shop with a very limited budget. He doesn't have access to a home computer and built the Woody Wagon by studying the photos he sees on the website. The articulated car carrier is of his own design. Great work, Jagath!

He writes to Cynthia:
Hi, Madam. Thank you very much for your interest and help as I build my wood shop and wood toy business. I am very happy you are involved in my matters. My full name is " kalatuwa archchilaye krishantha jagath" My friends call me "jagath".

My home address is:
K.a.krishantha jagath
No: 9 A/2,
Hapurudeniya,
Wellandura,
Kahawatta,
Sri lanka.
My work place address is:
K.a.krishantha jagath,
Rajya osu sala,
No: 32,
Nanda ellawala mawatha,
Ratnapura.
Sri lanka.

I am 42 years old and work in the government sector for State Pharmaceuticals Corporation of Sri Lanka. I very much like to make small wooden toys. I bought a small scroll saw and a 2" hole cutter and a hand drill. Scroll saw blades cannot be found in local hardware stores and I purchase new ones with great difficulty. I want to buy a mini table saw but it is very expensive. I have many things that require my monthly salary so I can't spend for this part of the project at this time.

J006.jpg
I collect my tools one by one so one of these days I can have a professional shop. Monthly I share a small part of my salary to buy these essential tools. For my scroll saw and drilling machine I used a monthly payment scheme. My woodworking room and some of my tools can be seen in the photos. I made the disc sander and other tools myself. Most of my tools are handmade. Thank you for your interest in my work. Jagath

Below is a photo of artwork by his daughter. I love seeing natural story telling ability and talent. The artwork has a lot of charm.

Terrific job.
I really like how the top deck of the car carrier lowers.
I am going to have to study that and maybe use your idea also.
We all started with one tool my friend and over many years built up our collection of tools. One tool at a time.
Excellent job with your current tool collection.

Thanks for sharing what you are doing.
I started like you one step at a time, and it can be frustrating.
You are able to do nice work, so just keep at it.
You keep in touch with questions and photos.  We would love to hear more.
You do have a beautiful family.
The daughters use of color in her artwork is awesome.
John thanks for sharing, I hope there is a way to pass along our comments to Jagath.

Well done Jagath you can't fault your work ethics and what you turn out with minimal tools, fantastic.

Jagath,
Excellent job bearing in mind the little tools you have!! I also started buying one tool at a time. The result is that I love and care for my tools as they were hard to come buy. Keep up the good work!!

Count me in I can help if needed I would think something like a care package but for woodworking, scroll saw blades seem to be a real scarce item over seas what else would be needed sand paper maybe some other thing that are not available in India easily. - Don

That works for me, the reason for offering the money is that you maybe will be better at shipping and such from where you are the shipping from the states in out of this world .... Maybe just help with shipping is what you can use the money for but I will talk at you later.
