I make these little beauties on a regular basis because I find most of the timber in my scrap bin and if I can use that up I am a happy chap.

Nice job, and telling us the materials came from the scrap bin attracts us more.
Want to tell us about the people - hair and facial details.

Nice work Johnkc.
That's why I use the term 'projects-in-waiting' department. No such thing as 'scraps' when you can make quality toys like this [thumb]

to make the little people I originally bought one from a craft shop cut it in half and used it to make a profile template out of a furniture scraper I then use this to create the shape on the lathe then a bit of sanding to finish the job I use beech for the people, I then pass it over to my partner Sylvia who illustrates children's books for a living and she paints on the various hairstyles and features using acrylic paint, they then come back to me for final coat of varnish (water based)

Nice job !
Hi Blackwolf
Thank you for your comments
These are all made using different species of timber
I have never tried staining other than colour ones i.e. red, blue, yellow etc.

Nice job on the wee little people I kind of have a soft spot for the one driving the car he unlike the others has a bald spot ummmm I am not to far from that now. Really nice and was wondering if your partner will be ready for the influx of little people showing up in box's to have their personality's put on? - Don
