I'm looking for a complete set of metric bits in .5-mm steps up to about 13mm.

From what Google keeps giving me, it looks like I might need to buy several sets to get what I want.

Do any of you have a suggestion?

Woodcraft has a 25 piece metric Wood River set on sale right now.  If you have a local store you can save the shipping.

Thanks that looks like an excellent place to start, unfortunately for me. The nearest Woodcraft is a 200-mile drive. There are no woodworking stores in my local area.

I'm going to keep looking.

BadBob,

let's have contact, I can buy one and send it over?
https://www.baptist.nl/ > houtbewerkers > Boren  and you see all kind of drills.

I can get you a set.

Less expensive are: https://www.gamma.nl/assortiment/piranha-houtspiraalboor-3-mm-x52001/p/B618686In all kind of sizes available. Only 9 mm is hard to find.

You can also try:
https://www.famag.com/DE/Home
https://www.fine-tools.com
I don't know if they send it across but why shouldn't they not?

I am in need of a set imperial, especcially a 3 /16 and 5/16, both with a lenght of
4 1/16 because I need to cut into two dowels a hole over a lenght of 10,7 mm  into dowels wich have a totall lenght of 12 cm (it must become a hydraulic arm for a kippertruck I got for my birhtday, not being a TMP .... sorry John).

Let's see if we can help eachother?

I highly recommend these bits and they have both of those sizes.

The Fisch bits should be great too.

I like the Shopsmith Brad Point Drill Bits. I have been using them for years. They are made in Europe somewhere I can't remember where. Even the used ones on eBay are expensive. They are longer than the Lee valley bits.

Let me know if I can help.

Dear Jim,

does that store have also 3/16 and 5/16 bradpoint drills which can make a hole of 4 1/4 inch or 10,2 mm?
And may I be so blunt to ask you to look for me?

BadBob,

I:
here the answer of Lee Valley Services
"Thank you for your e-mail. We checked our twist drills and brad-point drills, and the 3/16” bits are 3 ½” long, whereas the 5/16” bits are 4 ½” in length. Bit length depends on its diameter.
Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

Regards,

Denis
Internet Customer Service/Lee Valley Tools Ltd.

II:
Shopmith:

"Mr, Verhulst, I apologize we do not sell any item that you are describing at this time.

Thanks,

Shopsmith"

Bad Bob,
Woodcraft in Seattle has a 7 piece set which includes the 3/16 and 5/16 brad point bit. The set is in stock and costs $25.99 plus tax and shipping. I would be more than happy to get this and have it shipped to you, let me know. jbmcnellis@gmail.com

Bad Bob,
Wood craft just called me and they sell both 3/15 and 5/16, the 3/16 is out of stock and the 5/16 is in stock and costs 4.99 plus tax and shipping, I think the 7 piece set is a better deal.

BadBop you will find them on the internet Amazon or Ebay. If you need them for wood, take the cheap one, if you some good stuff take drillls with 5% Cobalt. The tip need to be adjusted to confirm for wood
