I am primarily a wood carver so I am new to this sight and toy making. My question will seem basic to most but I want to get started off on the right foot. I just purchased the "1890 Antique Rocking Horse" pattern. Once I tape the pattern together for the main body, will it fit on standard 2x10 or 2x12 pine lumber from Lowes or will I need to use MDF or plywood?

You ask an important question! The attached file shows standard lumber and how we re-arrange the patterns to fit. I think the lumber shown is 11-1/4" wide. I hope you post your progress as you build on our forum. We all enjoy seeing what each other is up to!

Thanks John,
That is a tremendous help. I will feel more confident in my first attempt at toy making.
