Denis: are the species of wood that you're using left overs or cutoffs from other projects?

jasonshanks,

Yes, some of the wood I use comes from other projects. Also, the center of 2 hull segments yields some scrap as well. I am a member of a local woodworker's club and we trade wood all the time. One of our hardwood suppliers in Houston will also sell a pellet of fall-off for a good price.

Make friends with other woodworkers and ask for their scraps. The toys from Toymaking Plans use mostly scrap and short pieces...
