Hi, I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if this topic has already been covered in another post.  I have a 18 in. Porter Cable scroll saw and find that the motor surges when cutting anything that is thicker than 1/4 in.  I've tried adjusting the speed up and down and it doesn't seem to make a difference.  Also tried Olsen blades and still have the issue.  I have an older 16 in. Delta saw and don't have this problem, even when cutting up to 1 1/2 in. stock.  Do you think this could be a technique problem or an issue with the saw?

It sound like a mechanical problem. Or perhaps the motor is at fault.  You might want to ask on one of the larger scrollsaw forums. If some one doesn't have an answer here.

Google forum search.

Thanks BadBob!  I've posted in a couple of larger forums and will share any feedback that I get.
