Not sure if you have looked at it but "Paracord" would most likely fit the bill nicely. You can get it at hobby stores or even Walmart

it come in different thickness (weight) and is very strong.

Boot laces the soft round ones will work. I have also used flat cotton shoe laces. The flat laces work really well for tops.

Try looking at the big box stores for small nylon rope/cord it comes in many sizes and can be quite soft. Cut it with something hot so it doesn't unravel. Nylon is slippery and may require you to learn to tie some new knot tying skills.

Chris, I'd say the Paracord is the way to go, I used it on this Tug pull toy this past summer and am quite impressed with it. I've seen it at Hobby Lobby and from the above post Wal Mart makes it accesable to buy. At Hobby Lobby I saw about 4 to 5 colors, few years back I bought some online and thats another resource.Enjoy your build--

Nice work Bucko, and thanks for the info on the cord. I am heading over to Hobby Lobby this morning to pick up a supply. I have missed this one!
