This is my first completed project the Vintage train set and I added a tanker car for a total of seven cars. We are giving it to my 4 year old grandson. train.jpg

That's fantastic. I don't have grand children but I do have great nephews and nieces. Did you get the plans from this site?

Thanks for sharing.

I agree! Your train is beautiful and I love how you personalized it! Thanks for posting, tbnr!

The plans are from the Vintage 1955 Wood Toy Train.

Great work.  Can you tell us your painting process.  # coats, type paint, etc.  I am still dealing with the painting issue.  Thanks

90+% is painted with rustoleum  spray paint 2-3 coats with 220 grit sand paper in between coats the remaining was brushed on acrylic paint.

That’s a fantastic train.
So, if you used spray paint, you must have painted before assembly?
Again, looks great.

TBNSR.
That is beautiful work, well done. the paint job looks really good I am sure your grandson will love it. I hardly ever paint my work because I am rubbish at it and it always cheapens it, I have never tried spraying so it is done by brush, leaving brush marks and poor finish. So well done you, just one more comment. Show us more.

I painted it so it was more colorful for my grandson. Also for me paint can cover any minor mistake with my woodworking capabilities.
