Q for those of you who use the std axel pegs for trucks, etc.  I cannot find a long peg for double wheel set-up.  I do see hubs on pics of trucks others have built that are double tires.  I have used 1/4" dowel with 1/4 plugs but always unsure about the stability and durability of wheels on the axel.  Any help or comments.

craftparts.com has many different sizes.

AP3030 2-1/8″ Axles w/5/16″ tenon for toy wheels
AP3500 2-9/16″ Wood Axle Pegs w/11/32″ tenons

These are thr recommended sizes for there ready made double wheels.

If that still isn't long enough they axle caps you can glue on to a dowel to get any length you want.

We don't get axlepegs in South Africa. To expensive to buy them overseas. I always use, 6, 8 or 10mm dowels. I drill the axlesholes right throw the body and glue the wheels to the dowels. Never had any problems with that.
