These are trending pretty well on Pinterest so I thought I'd give it a shot using some scrap 2x4.  My wife works in technology and fell in love with it so I think it is bound for a corner of her desk.

Both nicely done and quite imaginative/positive ideas.

I couldn't help myself...had to make another.  Used headlights for cars as part of the hands and feet and wheels and axle pins as part of the shoulders.  Don't know why these make me happy, but I like them. [smile]

A friend at work liked the robot with a tie so much that I gave it to him.  Made another this weekend to take tie-guy's place.  Based on a picture that I found on Pinterest.  The body and head are made from scrap 2x4.  The shoulders and upper arms are actually wooden "people" bought from craftparts.com.  Cut down a small shaker peg to make the wooden part of the hook. Used a small headlight as the other hand. To make the peg leg, I placed the dowel in my drill press and used a small chisel to add decoration. Definitely looking into a mini lathe now. [smile]
